Press release -

5th annual ‘FreeFrom’ Food Awards open on 15th September

Freefrom Awards 2011: Antony Worrall Thompson presenting the  FAIR trophy to Clare Marriage of Doves Farm for their Gluten-free self raising flour.

6 million people in the UK (10% of the UK population) now buy ‘freefrom’ food regularly because they need to; up to 24 million (40% of the  population) choose to buy it on an occasional basis.
So it is not surprising that, according to Global Industry Analysts Inc, the global market for freefrom food will be $17 billion by 2017!!
Running hard to keep up, the annual FreeFrom Food Awards seek out the newest and the best of those ‘freefrom’foods, subject them to a rigourous judging process and then award Winners, Highly Commended and Commended certificates to the most successful – along with a round yellow logo to use on their products.
Now in their 5th year, the awards, whose patron is long-term champion of freefrom food, Antony Worrall Thompson, have been hugely successful in raising the profile and the quality of freefrom food both with health-compromised and health-conscious shoppers. Over 100 companies submitted over 300 products for last year’s awards and the organisers expect a significant increase in that number this year.
Entry for the awards opens on 15th September. For all details on how to enter, check the awards site at http://www.freefromfoodawards.co.uk/categories_12.html
Judging for the awards will be in the first week of February 2012.
For details on how the products are judged and who does the judging see http://www.freefromfoodawards.co.uk/judges_judging.html
A shortlist will be issued at the beginning of March 2012 - and all shortlisted products will be given a ‘shortlisted’ logo to use on their products.
Antony Worral Thompson will be making the presentations, including the FAIR (Foundation for Allergy Information and Research) trophy for the Best FreeFromFood 2012, in mid April 2012 at the Awards’ annual ‘freefrom’ networking party!
