The Dowling Poole tour the UK in September, announces CloseUp PR

Following the critical acclaim heaped upon their new album 'Bleak Strategies' (www.thedowlingpoole.com/press) The Dowling Poole  announce a five date UK tour in September 2014.  Tickets are on sale now. http://thedowlingpoole.com/gigs/ 

The Dowling Poole is the band formed by singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Willie Dowling (ex Honeycrack/Jackdaw4) and Jon Poole (ex Cardiacs). On the tour they'll be joined by vocalist Givvi Flynn, who also features on the album. 

Released in August through 369 Records, 'Bleak Strategies' was funded through a PledgeMusic initiative which saw the artists’ many fans coming together to get the project off the ground.

Tracks from 'Bleak Strategies'  have been played on a variety of national, regional and internet radio stations, and the group recently performed three songs live in the studio on the Marc Riley show for BBC 6 Music.

'Bleak Strategies' entered the Independent chart at number 20.

Both Dowling and Poole have earned solid reputations as writers, session musicians and producers writing songs, recording and touring with a number of different groups and artists.  In 1998 following the dissolution of his UK and Japan chart-topping band Honeycrack, Willie Dowling moved into writing music for film and television, working with some of the biggest names in British comedy and drama, including Steve Coogan, Armstrong & Miller, Rob Brydon, Julia Davies, Derek Jacobi, Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg, Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer amongst, many, many others.

Dowling and Poole first met in 2011 when recording and producing Ginger Wildheart’s award winning, top-ten "555%" album.  Influenced by pop masters such as XTC, Blur, 10CC, The Kinks, The Beatles and more, The Dowling Poole debut album ‘Bleak Strategies’ is an eclectic and contemporary mix of semi-psychedelic pop, somehow quintessentially British-sounding, laced with harmonies and a multitude of influences from the best of 50 years of rock and popular music.

These September dates are a great chance for the duo’s fans – old and new – to catch a show based around the amazing new album from a band at the peak of their powers.
