Freedom Deli wins Free From Food Award in Ready Meal category for gluten-free Panini

Freedom Deli, one of the UK’s most exciting and fastest growing free-from food producers, is celebrating a further accolade for its range of chilled and frozen gluten-free and wheat-free ready meals, pastries and filled paninis, following last night’s Free From Food Awards 2013 in London, where Freedom Deli received the top award in the Ready Meals category for its Ham and Cheese Gluten-Free Panini.

Launched in 2010 Freedom Deli produces delicious, award-winning, 100% natural ready meals from carefully sourced ingredients for those with special dietary requirements. With a range that includes a hand-made gluten-free beef lasagne, which received a North West Fine Food Heart Award, and a gluten-free gourmet fish pie that received a Great Taste Award, Freedom Deli sells its chilled and frozen products to consumers direct as well as catering and food service companies.

The full product range is available from Ocado, GoodnessDirect, Deli Devine and Goodness Foods wholesale, as well as via Freedom Deli's own online store.  Freedom Deli is also currently in negotiation with several multiple retailers and its long term aim is to see the range of products available at major coffee outlets, and within train and air travel across the UK. 

As the free-from food market in the UK continues its rapid expansion, the demand for top quality free-from convenience and ‘on the go’ food is increasing.    Freedom Deli was born out of founder Angela Murtagh’s own determination to find delicious, nutritious and convenient gluten-free and wheat-free foods.    

“Adopting a gluten-free and or wheat-free diet can be a lifestyle choice for some people but for many, it’s the result of a medical diagnosis for wheat or gluten allergy or intolerance, coeliac disease or IBS.   Like me, many people struggle to find convenient appealing, varied and nutritious meals for themselves, children or family members when they are diagnosed”, explains Angela Murtagh.

"Our products contain British meats and are lower in salt, fats and sugars than most ready meals currently on the market. We exhibit widely across the UK at a host of major free-from shows and food fairs, and part of our rapid success has been because we’re excited to meet consumers and listen to what foods they feel they’re missing out on since they’ve been gluten-free or wheat-free”, adds Angela Murtagh, “so we’ve shaped much of our range from listening to their demands for ready meals such as shepherd’s pie, traditional scotch eggs, pork sausage rolls, chicken and leek pie and our now hugely popular paninis”.

From 7^th – 9^th June 2013, Freedom Deli will exhibit at the Allergy & Free From Show at London’s Olympia, and the show is expected to be visited by a minimum of 15 000 people over three days.
